After a brief period as a model for fashion her career quickly shifted to acting by appearing in guest roles on television shows like Boy Meets World in the 1990s, and High Incident. In 1997 she debuted as a film actress in Nowhere. In American Beauty and American Pie her name was recognized in her roles. She has appeared with American Pie's Co-Star Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) before starring as the lead character for the film Sugar & Spice (2001). Spun was a 2002 independent drama film and Trauma (2004) thriller were both prominent in her work. The actress also appeared on HBO's drama Six Feet Under in 2004 she received a nomination as a member of the Outstanding Cast at the 2005 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
