Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th in 1967. Roberts is the fourth Roberts generation that has lived in Atlanta starting with her grandfather who was a farmer, John Pendleton Roberts. She inherited her father's interest in the theatre at a young time. While studying in Emory University in 1952 he performed in shows on campus and in Atlanta. When he joined the Air Force and appearing in an airforce production in Biloxi together with Betty Lou Bredemus. The couple got married in the year 1955. Their first son, Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter was a student at Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after leaving the Airforce in 1957. In 1960, the family relocated into Decatur Georgia where Walter began working at Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter along with Betty Lou began producing a children's television program in Georgia, Decatur called Bum Bum and His Buddies. They funded the show their own. They established an Actors and Writers Workshop in the same year, which lasted 6 years. Lelisa Billingsley often referred to as Lisa was born in 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
